Univid is built to support both live, on-demand, and simulated live webinars.
What is a simulated live webinar?
A simulated live webinar (or pre-recorded webinar) refers to a type of webinar or online event that is pre-recorded but streamed as though it is live.
It's a great way to ensure a smooth presentation while also interacting with your audience in real-time through polls, CTA:s, reactions, chat and Q&A.
Univid supports uploading a video to automatically go live at the time of the countdown. Simulating the webinar to automate the hosting process.
How to set up a simulated live webinar (3 steps)
Here is how to set up a simulated live webinar (pre-recorded).
1. Select the pre-recorded mode in your webinar
In the webinar setup. Choose pre-recorded.
2. Upload your webinar video
The next step is to upload your video that should go live at the the given time.
See the recommended video settings.
Wait for the video to upload.
3. Press "schedule video"
When the upload is ready - press the "schedule video" button.
Note: This is an important step - as your video won't play unless you schedule it!
Now you should be ready to sit back and let your video go live as soon as the countdown hits zero. π
Psst! Remember you can enjoy the same type of interaction with your attendees - not just through the video. You can still launch polls, answer in the chat, have live reactions, Q&A, etc.
Recommended video settings (size and format)
We recommend to upload a .mp4 video file and keeping the size of the recording manageable, ideally max 1-3 GB (note, larger files should be OK too as long as they don't exceed 15GB - but can become difficult to upload/download).
For reference see some recommended settings below:
Format: .mp4 (H.264)
Resolution: 1080p (1920x1080)
Frame rate: 30fps
Target bitrate: 4-5Mbps
FAQ
Can we use the same interaction like chat, Q&A, polls when running a simulated live webinar?
Yes, you can use the same type of interaction with your attendees - you can still launch polls, answer in the chat, have live reactions, Q&A, etc. But of course you will not be able to answer through the video, as it's pre-recorded.
Do you have to press "go live" manually in simulated live mode?
No, as long as you have scheduled the video - everything will go live automatically. Feel free to test it out in a test session before.
Do you have to manually end the webinar in simulated live mode?
No, as long as you have scheduled the video - the video will simply end automatically when finished. And the splash image will show. Feel free to test it out in a test session before.
Ps. If you want it to make it available on-demand, you still have to put it on-demand mode by pressing "end webinar" afterwards though.
Can I combine a simulated and live webinar?
If you want to host a simulated live webinar with a live Q&A you have two options. If it's:
(A) The main part is live and just a shorter pre-recorded video - you could run the webinar live using the webinar studio and simply share the video (uploading it as a resource).
(B) The main part is pre-recorded. You should probably use the simulated live mode in this case. At the end of the simulated part, you could start the webinar studio and press "go live" then you will replace the simulated live video.
Note: (B) is for advanced users, as you will have to time the end of the simulated live video yourself today. So for the easiest experience, we recommend choosing either simulated, or live.
